PostNord Group

We seek to strengthen our position and increase the speed of our digital transformation, and we are looking for you who will play an important role in identifying and implementing top notch data governance throughout the company. Analytics Center of Excellence is responsible for establishing the future IT landscape that will be the foundation for our data driven journey. PostNord is the leader of logistics and postal services in the Nordics and as a part of the IT organization, we support a variety of different PostNord stakeholders in a multitude of areas using our Azure-based Data Platform as our base. It is our goal to create scalable solutions to support the development of valuable data solutions and address broad range of use cases from logistics operations, self-service reporting and advanced analytics for companywide innovation and transformation initiatives.

Job duties

As a Data Governance Engineer, you are the IT representative responsible for the governance and safeguarding of our valuable data assets. You'll be a part of our Analytics Centre of Excellence and the main stakeholder for governance tools and procedures, as well as representing data owners’ perspective on the data assets to the data architect and the different teams delivering the platform and analytics solutions.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects and initiatives and get to know data and business representatives from all over the company. This is a new role at PostNord and your first task will be to set up structured processes and channels that ensure data ownership within the organization, by assigning and leading data stewards from the business side in working on prioritized data governance tasks.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Policy and Framework Implementation: Secure implementation, and maintenance of data governance policies, standards, and procedures. Establish and enforce data usage guidelines and ensure compliance with regulations.
  1. Data Quality Management: Create and monitor data quality metrics, including accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve data quality issues.
  1. Metadata Management: Design, implement and maintain process framework to secure that relevant metadata is captured, stored and maintained in data dictionaries and catalogues. Ensure proper documentation of data sources, ownership, and lineage.
  1. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure internal organizational compliance with data privacy and protection laws (e.g., GDPR). Identify and mitigate risks related to data security and integrity.
  1. Access Control and Security: Implement role-based access controls to secure sensitive data. Collaborate with IT and security teams to enforce data protection measures.
  1. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with data stewards, business teams, and IT to define data ownership and accountability. Provide guidance and training on data governance best practices to stakeholders.
  1. Data Governance Tools and Technology: Develop strong expertise of the Microsoft Purview and drive its implementation on the enterprise level. Ensure that all available capabilities are utilized in the most effective way to satisfy PostNord requirements, for example automation of governance processes, such as data quality checks and reporting.
  1. Audit and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of data policies, governance processes, and system configurations.

The tech stack still varies from team to team, but for data platform we are mainly focused on the Azure stack, (among the services used are Azure Auto ML, Azure ML Ops, Data Bricks, Data Factory, Synapse, Azure DevOps CI/CD, and Power BI etc). Our RPA team primarily work with UIPath and the Microsoft Power Platform. For governance, our preferred tool is Microsoft Purview.

We prefer to use Agile, and our unit applies a pragmatic approach to SAFe to resolve dependencies and set the pace for development, but we choose the appropriate approach for the product and team.
