As part of our Cloud Container Platform team, you will work closely with development and operations teams to enhance observability & tracing experience across business divisions. You will implement best practices in platform design, governance, and resilience while focusing on enabling self-service capabilities for teams. Our platform is built on hosting LGTM (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir) stack on Kubernetes and using Grafana Cloud extensively for visualisation, alerting & trace correlations for microservices.  

Job duties 

As part of this team, you will design, implement & manage observability platform monitors applications running on a mix of cloud technologies such as Kubernetes and OpenShift, as well as bare-metal, virtual machines and serverless applications. The platform is capable of monitoring applications (microservices/serverless) and infrastructure irrespective of whether platform that are operated on and will leverage multiple data sources at various levels of the architecture, to contextualize the collected telemetry and insights delivered to the end-users.  

 

Your role will include: 

  • Optimize the LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir) for improved performance and scalability across the platform. 
  • Support development teams in building dashboards and using Grafana’s Loki/Prometheus query builder for effective monitoring. 
  • Implement and manage end-to-end tracing using OpenTelemetry, providing deep insights into application performance. 
  • Facilitate tracing including correlations across microservices to ensure seamless observability. 
  • Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and Kubernetes clusters (EKS/OpenShift) while enhancing observability and monitoring capabilities.

We are looking for you who have (need to have)

  • You love technology, observability and working with brilliant people 
  • You have strong working knowledge of modern monitoring technologies like Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana, Loki, Mimir, etc., and how they fit together 
  • You are a skilled Python developer, preferably with a track record in open source. 
  • You have a proven understanding of the importance of observability and monitoring for keeping software running smoothly. 
  • You have advanced skills in Kubernetes container orchestration, including EKS, AKS, and OpenShift. 
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools as CDK, CrossPlane, Kustomize. 
  • You value soft skills and are passionate, enterprising, thoughtful, and self-motivated. 
  • You have strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

 

Meritorious experience (nice to have) 

  • Prior experience with tracing and correlations, including tools and techniques for tracking and analysing requests across microservices 
  • Background as a full-time developer with contributions to the open-source community 
  • Extensive experience in Cloud service providers, for example AWS & Azure.  
  • Ability to enhance the DevX (Developer Experience) for the organisation.
